Abstract: The Indian economy is the sixth largest economy with a vast developing mixed economic status. Women lay a major role in the economy of the nation by participating in the various sectors. Women empowerment is much more than realizing the work a woman does in equivalent to the work of a man, it’s much more than obtaining the right to a certain occupation. This paper contracts the statistical report of the growth level of women entrepreneurship in Indian economy and the various obstacles that they face. Women in India represent 29 percent of the labor force, down from 35 percent in 2004. The main advantage of women empowerment is that there will be an overall development of the society. Women empowerment in India is dependent on many different variables like education status, geographical status and age. This paper offers deep understanding of the women entrepreneurs, their needs that they deprive for, women’s access to education, educational attainment and statistical report representing the barriers faced by women entrepreneurs at different dimension and some bright spots where women shine brightly.
