A convenient – and quick to realize – approach for the synthesis of a novel nano-sized SiO2/carbon cluster composite photocatalyst is suggested. Since, the preparation of visible light sensitive SiO2/carbon cluster composite photocatalyst is hitherto unreported; we performed such investigations to develop a novel catalyst from insulating materials. The synthesized composite indeed show efficient photocatalytic activity by degrading the methylene blue under visible light-irradiation.en_US
