Abstract: | Rock art holds immense cultural and historical significance, providing valuable insights into the lives and beliefs of ancient civilizations. The rock art form aim to shed light on the socio- cultural aspects, religious practices, and daily life of past societies. This paper presents an overview of a research study conducted in Tamil Nadu along with its periodic classification and the characteristic features of the paintings and it also provides a list of rock art sites in Tamil Nadu. This study concentrates on the various rock art sites located in Tamil Nadu which contribute to the state's rich cultural heritage. These rock art sites exhibit a wide range of artistic styles, themes, and techniques, reflecting the artistic expressions of the ancient inhabitants of the region. |
