dc.description.abstract | Emotional intelligence (EI) involves the ability to monitor one’s own and others’ emotions, to discriminate among them, and to use the information to guide one’s thinking and actions (Peter Salovey and John Mayer, 1990). The present study was aimed at studying the relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction among the employees of a shipyard. A convenience sample consisting of fifty employees working in a shipyard participated in the study. Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire was used to measure global trait intelligence which provides scores on four broader factors: well-being, self-control, emotionality, and sociability. The collected data was analysed with Mean, Standard Deviation, Correlation, regression and ANOVA tests. Results indicated that approximately forty four per cent of the variance in job satisfaction was explained by emotional intelligence. | en_US |
